Page numbers, where shown, indicate pages in the book publication. In the Indexes of the Ethnonyms and Names, the reference page numbers, shown in the publication, are deleted because the reader can use the search function of this cite. The offered copy of the printed edition contains typos and misspellings, for which I apologize and intend to correct them with time.

Conventions:.
"a" - as "a" in arch, "j" - as "j" in jealousy, "kh" - as "h" in hug, "ü" - as "u" in munitions, "y" - as "Y" in York or as "i" in if

Ethnonyms  The spelling of the ethnonyms mostly transcribes the author's Russian spelling, sometimes with added conventional English spelling and variations of the spelling used in the literature. The most frequent discordances are in the "C" <=> "K", in the "I" <=>"Hi"  <=> "Hy" <=> "J" <=> "Y" transitions, in the "F" <=> "D" <=> "Th" transitions, and in the "Kh" <=> "H" transitions, like Cimmer <=> Kimmer, Iirk <=> Hyrc(anae), Frak <=> Thrak <=> Thrac(ian), Hanty <=> Khanty. Where the author is using a probable Turkish spelling, like "c" for [dj] or ĉ for [ch], or a Russian "j" for "Y" in York, they were transcribed with conventional English symbology: dj, ch and y respectively.

The ethnonyms are translated in singular case, versus a combination of singular and plural used by the author. The plural endings with multiple provenances, typically Russian but also Türkic and Greek and English, were dropped, and possibly dropped erroneously when the dropped syllables, mostly "i" and "y", are in fact a part of the root. To convert the stripped form to English, a proper English ending should be restored, like in Abalary (Russ.) => Abalar (Root) => Abalar(s) or Abalarian(s) (Eng.), but Pardy (Russ., Türk.) => Pardy (Root) => Pardy or Parthian(s) (Eng.). The Russian version of the ethnonym, when given by the author, is retained, like Mesheryak in Majgar (Mesheryak), but otherwise is not added, like Polovets for Kypchak. Any reference to the ethnonyms in the listing below should be counterchecked against other possible spellings and misspellings.

Names  The names are transliterated from Russian spelling, and in cases of reverse translation some authors may not recognize their own names.  While attempts were made to locate the correct spelling, I apologize for any problematic entries.
